Makers of The Tinder Swindler come up with new docu-series American Nightmare

Netflix has unveiled a trailer for its new documentary series American Nightmare, which explores the terrifying ordeal of couple Denise Huskins and Aaron Quinn. In March 2015, Huskins and Quinn were awakened in the middle of the night by armed intruders. The intruders tied the couple up with zip ties and forced them into a closet.

The attackers' initial plan was to kidnap Huskins and return her after Aaron paid a ransom. Huskins was then taken and released two days later.

Nine years later, their harrowing ordeal is made into a Netflix documentary series.



The three-part documentary series from the team behind The Tinder Swindler, BAFTA winner Felicity Morris (pictured) and Emmy nominee Bernadette Higgins, explores the events that led to Denise Huskins being called 'a real-life Gone Girl'.

In the trailer, Quinn can be heard calling the police and saying, "My friend Denise was kidnapped last night."

When asked why he didn't call when the kidnapping happened, Quinn can be heard saying he was tied up.

The documentary, told through police interviews, actors, CCTV footage and interviews, picks apart the young couple's story, in which Denise Huskins returns after being kidnapped.

From Wednesday January 17, American Nightmare can be streamed on Netflix.
