Billions actress Malin Åkerman cast in leading role for Starz series The Hunting Wives

Malin Åkerman, known from the Showtime series Billions, has the leading role of Margo Banks in the new Starz drama The Hunting Wives.
The Hunting Wives is an eight-episode series based on the novel of the same name by May Cobb. Production will begin this spring in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Åkerman's breakthrough came in 2005 in the HBO series The Comeback with Lisa Kudrow. She had a recurring role on the third season of HBO's Entourage and on the ABC comedy series Suburgatory. In 2016, Åkerman starred in Showtime's Billions for four seasons as Lara Axelrod, alongside Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti.

Other roles for Åkerman (pictured) include Hulu's Dollface, Soulmates on AMC, Trophy Wife on ABC and Children's Hospital for Adult Swim. Film credits include Watchmen, The Donor Party, Slayers, Rock of Ages, Couples Retreat, 27 Dresses and Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle.

The Hunting Wives comes from writer, showrunner and executive producer Rebecca Cutter (Hightown). The series tells the story of Sophie O'Neil and her family's move from the East Coast to the Deep East of Texas, where she succumbs to the irresistible charms of socialite Margo - and her life becomes consumed by obsession, seduction and murder.

In addition to Cutter and Cobb, Erwin Stoff (The Serpent Queen, Julia) is the executive producer for 3 Arts Entertainment. The series is produced by Lionsgate Television and 3 Arts Entertainment.
