Drama series in development about convicted footballer Quincy Promes

The series will be titled Quincy: Leven als een baller. Filming will start early next year.
A drama series about the recently convicted footballer Quincy Promes (32) is in the making. Producers Horizon Film and Lusus announced this on Monday.

Quincy: Leven als een baller is inspired by the life of footballer Quincy Promes (photo), who currently plays for Spartak Moscow in Russia. He previously played for Ajax and FC Twente, among others. He also played in the Dutch national team.

Last week, Promes was sentenced to six years in prison for involvement in drug smuggling in 2020. In the summer of last year, Promes was also sentenced to a year and a half in prison for serious assault. He had stabbed his cousin in the leg during a family party in Abcoude.

Because Quincy currently resides in Russia, the convictions have no immediate consequences. However, when he comes to the Netherlands, he is immediately arrested.

"The series follows Promes through different phases of his life; from his return to Ajax after international adventures to his involvement in criminal activities," Horizon Films and Lusus report. "The development of the drama series is based on thorough research and public sources, combining facts with fictional elements, similar to series such as Mocro Mafia and Undercover."

It is not yet known when the series will be shown.

Why does this kind of failed people get so much attention? The only attention he should receive is a message that he has been arrested and is going to jail. Furthermore, you should give these types of guests as little attention as possible. Nice role models...

I think Quincy will see this as a tribute. Increasing status in his environment.
