Netflix develops new Silicon Valley drama series with Rosamund Pike

Netflix will explore Silicon Valley in a new drama series. The streamer won a bidding war by giving a straight-to-series order to Thumblite, set at the epicenter of the tech industry.
The series comes from The Morning Show and Pachinko producer Media Res and creator Scott Z. Burns (Extrapolations). New York University marketing professor and podcast host Scott Galloway is executive producer. Rosamund Pike (photo) plays the leading role and is responsible for the production.

Netflix describes Thumblite as "a business thriller set in Silicon Valley that explores the plans, rivalries, visions and obsessions of the power brokers and their underlings as they battle for control of the most powerful industry the world has ever known." Details about Pike's role in the series are being kept under wraps for now.

The series is one of a few series in the works about Silicon Valley. CBS is developing a legal drama called Cupertino from Evil and The Good Fight creators Robert and Michelle King.

Burns is the showrunner of the series. His writing credits also include the feature films The Informant, Contagion and The Laundromat, and he directed episodes of Showtime's The Loudest Voice and Californication in addition to Extrapolations, Apple's anthology series on climate change.

The series marks the first scripted series involvement for Galloway, who co-hosts the podcast Pivot, with tech journalist Kara Swisher, and has written a book about tech giants Apple, Amazon, Facebook and Google.

Burns, Galloway and Pike produce with Greg Jacobs and Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer for Media Res.

Pike can also be seen as Moiraine Damodred in Prime Video's fantasy series The Wheel of Time and is a producer on Netflix's science fiction series 3 Body Problem. She made her breakthrough with her role as Miranda Frost in the James Bond film Die Another Day in 2002 and has since appeared in numerous films such as An Education, Surrogates, Johnny English Reborn, Jack Reacher, The World's End and Saltburn.
