Starz is adapting novel All Fours for television series

Starz has acquired the rights to Miranda July's suspense novel All Fours to turn it into a television series.
The book, about a woman at a turning point in her life who embarks on a journey of self-discovery and sexual awakening, has been a hot topic since its release in May 2024, with a number of studios and platforms circling it for a film or television adaptation. Ultimately it ended up at Starz.

“I’m thrilled that All Fours has found a home at Starz,” July (photo) said. “I had an electric feeling from the moment we met; it was clear we were speaking the same language. Rather than shying away from all the messy contradictions within sexuality and desire, Starz really digs into the reality of who women are and what we want, which makes it the perfect place to bring my novel to life. This is going to be wild.”

All Fours centers on a married woman in her 40s who, after a brief affair, has a sexual awakening, enters into new sexual relationships and redefines the boundaries of her marriage. The steamy drama fits with Starz's female focus and emphasis on adult content exemplified by the network's "We're All Adults Here" tagline.

“We are honored that Miranda has entrusted us with the adaptation of her magnificent novel All Fours,” said Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming at Starz. “As we continue to expand our boundary-pushing programming for adults, we’re excited to work with Miranda on this extraordinary story that resonates with women around the world.”

Sparking a cultural conversation about female desire, aging and unconventional relationships upon release, All Fours was an instant New York Times bestseller and has spent 38 weeks on the Indie Bestseller List. The novel was named Best Book of 2024 by every major publication, was a Sunday Times Bestseller in the UK and has been sold in 25 countries to date.
