Father and son Cuse are working on a mysterious Star Wars series for Lucasfilm. Prolific Lost showrunner Carlton Cuse is taking a trip through the Star Wars universe, with his son Nick Cuse at his side. The duo are in early development on a Star Wars series for Lucasfilm, sources say.
Carlton Cuse's credits include Bates Motel, The Strain, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan and Netflix's recently released medical drama Pulse. Nick Cuse worked with Damon Lindelof, his father's co-showrunner on Lost, on Watchmen (2019) and The Leftovers; and Station Eleven and Masters of the Air.
Details about the Star Wars project are being kept under wraps.
The news comes on the eve of Andor season two and follows Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo, where Lucasfilm gave a first look at the feature film The Mandalorian & Grogu and revealed a title for Shawn Levy’s Ryan Gosling film, Star Wars: Starfighter. The company also revealed new details about Ahsoka season two, including the return of fan favorite Anakin Skywalker actor Hayden Christensen.
After putting Disney+ on the map in 2019 with the hit The Mandalorian, Lucasfilm and Disney’s sister brand Marvel Studios have slowed down their television development in recent years. In the heat of the streaming wars, new series from both brands have been announced with regularity, while the more measured approach means this potential Cuse series is the first new live-action Star Wars series to come to the public’s attention in quite some time.
