Netflix Orders Comedy Series From and Starring Dan Levy; Taylor Ortega and Laurie Metcalf

Netflix has ordered a family crime comedy series co-created by and starring Emmy winner Dan Levy (Schitt's Creek).
The eight-episode series, set to begin production in 2025, also stars Taylor Ortega (The Four Seasons) and Laurie Metcalf (The Conners).

The untitled comedy series, created and executive produced by Levy (pictured) and Rachel Sennott, centers on a pair of highly inept siblings (Levy, Ortega) who are blackmailed into the world of organized crime. Metcalf plays the duo's mother.

“I’m so excited to be bringing this truly chaotic family story to life with Netflix. Thrilled with the team we’re building both behind the scenes and in front of the camera,” Levy said. “Taylor Ortega is going to become a household name and it’s been my life’s mission to get to call Laurie Metcalf ‘mother’. Looking forward to getting to share this with everyone.”

The team, both behind the scenes and in front of the camera, that Levy is referring to, went through several changes during the development of the series. The comedy series, created by Levy and Sennott, was originally conceived with them in mind as the lead characters of the brother and sister. For Sennott, the project was a back-burner, following her HBO comedy series, which was picked up for a pilot and eventually a series last fall, leaving her without a role in the Dan Levy series.

Casting began for the role of the sister, which went to Ortega in early March after an extensive audition process. Metcalf had already been cast for some time.
