Netflix is developing a series about Dan Brown's iconic character Robert Langdon

The drama is based on author Dan Brown's upcoming latest novel, The Secret of Secrets.
After a heated bidding war, Netflix has acquired the rights to a new series based on The Secret of Secrets, the upcoming novel from bestselling author Dan Brown. The sixth novel in the hugely popular Robert Langdon series is set to be released in September, but it's already getting a high-profile television adaptation.

Carlton Cuse

The series is being developed by Carlton Cuse (Lost, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan) as showrunner and executive producer, with Dan Brown himself as co-executive producer and co-writer. Together they will write the screenplay, ensuring the series has direct involvement from Langdon’s creator and an experienced television producer.

In The Secret of Secrets, renowned Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon must once again battle ancient forces in search of a missing scientist and her revolutionary manuscript that could rewrite the boundaries of the human mind and consciousness.
Netflix describes the series as a combination of futuristic science and mystical lore—a mix that fits perfectly into Brown’s familiar recipe of secrets, symbolism, and fast-paced intrigue.

This Netflix series is the latest attempt to translate Brown’s books to the screen. Tom Hanks portrayed Langdon in three successful films: The Da Vinci Code (2006), Angels & Demons (2009) and Inferno (2016), which together grossed $1.47 billion at the worldwide box office.

In 2021, Peacock released a series adaptation of The Lost Symbol starring Ashley Zukerman as a younger Langdon in a series titled Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol, but it was canceled after one season.

While no cast or release date has been announced, Netflix is betting big on the intellectually charged suspense-mystery genre with this series. With Cuse and Brown at the helm and a new novel that ventures into both spiritual and scientific realms, The Secret of Secrets seems poised to take Langdon into new, uncharted territory.

Stay tuned... in September, when the book is released — and then on Netflix.
