Fx Greenlights New Comedy Pilot Movers From Team Behind Reno 911!

FX has greenlit the new comedy pilot Movers, created and executive produced by Ben Garant and Cathy Shim.Ben Garant co-created the Comedy Central hit Reno 911!, which also starred Cathy Shim. Two of Reno 911!'s executive producers, Stacey Sher and Peter Principato, will also executive produce the pilot, along with Jonny Shipes (BMF: The Rise and Fall of a Hip-Hop Drug Empire).

In addition to their roles as creators and producers, Garant and Shim will also star in the series. The cast also includes Maz Jobrani, Darius Homayoun, Tanael “TJ” Joachim, Manny Montana, and WWE star Becky Lynch (real name Rebecca Quin), who has a co-starring role.

Movers is an improvised workplace comedy that centers on the chaotic lives of a group of movers. Its style and humor are similar to Reno 911!, a mockumentary that parodies police work and debuted on Comedy Central in 2003.

Garant’s recent credits include the TruTV pilot Seoul Hunters (also with Shim) and the Emmy-nominated special Reno 911! The Hunt For QAnon. He has co-written and produced major films with Thomas Lennon, including Night at the Museum, The Pacifier, Herbie: Fully Loaded, Balls of Fury, Hell Baby, and Baywatch.

Shim is a Korean-American actress, writer, and producer. She most recently starred in Anderson Paak’s directorial debut K-Pops!, which premiered at the 2024 Toronto Film Festival (TIFF).
