Sally Hepworth's novel The Soulmate is getting a television adaptation.

Sally Hepworth's bestselling novel The Soulmate is being adapted for television by Made Up Stories, the company behind Nine Perfect Strangers.
Bruna Papandrea's production company Made Up Stories is collaborating with Imogen Banks (Offspring) and Asher Keddie (Strife) on a television adaptation of Sally Hepworth's bestselling novel The Soulmate. The announcement was made during the Australians in Film Future Vision Summit.

The Soulmate tells the story of Pippa and Gabe, a seemingly perfect couple with two young daughters, a close-knit family, and an idyllic house on the edge of a seaside cliff. Since moving, Gabe has made a name for himself as a local hero: he saved seven people from taking the plunge.

But when he fails the eighth—a mysterious woman named Amanda—a web of secrets slowly begins to unravel. What follows is a gripping exploration of love, loyalty, and the dark side of seemingly stable relationships. The book was previously named one of the best thrillers of the year by The New York Times.

In a joint statement, Made Up Stories said: “It’s a privilege to collaborate with Sally Hepworth again. The Soulmate combines an intriguing premise with unforgettable characters like Pippa, Gabe, and Amanda. Along with our esteemed partners Asher, Imogen, and Rob (Weisbach, ed.), we’re thrilled to bring this compelling exploration of the complexities of love to life with Fiona Seres.”

This project marks the second collaboration between Hepworth and Made Up Stories, following the announcement last year that her novel Darling Girls is also being developed for television.
