Apple TV+ is developing a limited series adaptation of the hit 2006 romantic comedy The Holiday. The original film The Holiday, directed and written by Nancy Meyers, became a classic starring Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and Jack Black, but Meyers is not involved in the new series adaptation.

The series will retain the original concept: two single women—one American and one British—with very different lives swap homes during the holidays and unexpectedly find love.
Instead of the original characters, the series will introduce new characters. Apple TV+ is currently casting and has already sent offers to well-known actresses on both sides of the Atlantic. Once these lead roles are filled, production will likely be officially greenlit.
Rob Delaney, known for Catastrophe, is consulting on the project. Delaney, who also appeared in Apple TV+'s Bad Monkey and recently starred in the FX series Dying For Sex and the film Deadpool & Wolverine, returns to Apple with this film.
The original film, The Holiday, followed Amanda, a Los Angeles movie trailer company owner (played by Diaz), and Iris, a London newspaper columnist (Winslet). Both are heartbroken and decide to swap homes online. Amanda eventually meets Iris's brother, Graham (Law), while Iris bonds with Miles (Black), a film composer and colleague of Amanda's.
Although Meyers never intended to make a Christmas film, The Holiday became a holiday staple. Nearly twenty years after its premiere, the film remains immensely popular—a status Apple TV+ now hopes to continue in series form.
