Hulu has ordered a pilot for Foster Dade, a high school mystery series written by Greg Berlanti and Bash Doran (The Looming Tower). Foster Dade is based on the novel Foster Dade Explores the Cosmos by Nash Jenkins and is produced by Warner Bros. Television, where Greg Berlanti has an exclusive deal.

The series is described as “a sophisticated mystery set in an East Coast boarding school, exploring themes of privilege, scandal, sexuality, and masculinity against the backdrop of rising social media, millennial anxiety, and medication use.”
The project is noteworthy because it’s one of Berlanti’s first teleplays in years. While he has executive produced dozens of series and sometimes credited as a creator, his last writing credit was the opening episodes of the Netflix series You in 2018. He will also co-write an episode with Carly Wray for Stillwater, an upcoming Prime Video series based on the Skybound comic of the same name.
Bash Doran is a two-time Writers Guild of America Award winner: in 2024 with the writers of Beef (Netflix) and an individual award in 2012 for an episode of Boardwalk Empire (HBO). Her other credits include the Netflix film Outlaw King, the BBC miniseries Life After Life and Masters of Sex (Showtime).
Berlanti is currently an executive producer on series such as Brilliant Minds (NBC) and All American (2018) (The CW), the final season of which is expected in 2025-26. He is also developing a family drama for HBO Max, a live-action Scooby-Doo series for Netflix, and Stillwater for Prime Video.
