HBO Max has acquired the U.S. rights to One Day in October, a scripted series based on the events of October 7, 2023, in Israel. The series, created by Oded Davidoff and Daniel Finkelman and filmed on location in Israel, tells four stories of love, courage, survival, and loss. From parental sacrifices and moments turning into terror to glimmers of hope amid chaos, each story reveals deep insights into the “senseless bloodshed of this attack,” according to the producers.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas militants invaded Israel, attacking several kibbutzim and the Nova Music Festival, resulting in approximately 1,200 deaths and over 200 hostages.
The cast includes Swell Ariel Or, Noa Kedar, Naomi Levov, Hisham Suliman, Wael Hamdoun, Yuval Semo, Avi Azulay, Naveh Tzur, and Yaël Abecassis.
Fernando Szew, President of Fox Entertainment Studios, stated: “The tragic events of October 7 have deeply affected us all. From the start, we approached this series with the utmost care, sensitivity, and urgency to tell the stories authentically and respectfully, and to honor the victims and the heroic survivors. Oded and the incredible team from Sparks Go, ZOA, and Yes TV have created truly immersive stories that we proudly present on HBO Max.”
Daniel Finkelman added: “For me, film and television have always been more than entertainment; it’s a way to bear witness. These are stories of ordinary people in extraordinary moments. In a time when truth is vulnerable, the most powerful thing we can do is appeal to humanity itself. I hope these stories open hearts and spark meaningful conversations.”
The four-part series, produced by Fox Entertainment Studios, Israeli Yes TV, and Moriah Media, premieres on Tuesday, October 7.
