Kit Harington's A Tale of Two Cities lands at BBC and MGM+

The BBC and MGM+ are joining forces for a new four-part drama series based on Charles Dickens' classic A Tale of Two Cities.
In the leading roles, we see Kit Harington (Game of Thrones), François Civil (Dix pour cent), and Mirren Mack (Miss Austen). The limited series, directed by Hong Khaou and written by Daniel West, will begin production next month.

The series is set in London in 1782. Lucie Manette (Mack) discovers that her father, who was presumed dead for nearly twenty years, might still be alive. The news comes from Charles Darnay (Civil), an idealistic French immigrant who is immediately arrested and accused of treason. To help him, Lucie enlists the aid of the brilliant but volatile lawyer Sydney Carton (Harington).

What follows is a dramatic love triangle: Lucie is torn between Darnay and Carton—two men who look alike but are inner opposites. Their fates become inextricably intertwined in a story full of love, betrayal, triumph, and tragedy against the backdrop of the tensions between France and Great Britain.

A Tale of Two Cities was published in 1859 and is set in London and Paris before and during the French Revolution.

The production is handled by Federation Stories, in collaboration with Thriker Films (the production company of Harington and West) and Federation Studio France.

According to Michael Wright, head of MGM+, the adaptation aims to bring a classic story with cinematic flair to a contemporary audience.
