It is produced by Dorothy St. Pictures, the company behind projects like Pamela: A Love Story and Anatomy of Lies. Their most recent project, the Courtney Love documentary Antiheroine, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January.
According to Hulu, the series highlights themes such as rebellion, the fragility of friendship, and the pressures of growing up in the digital age. It explores how love can turn into hate and the devastating consequences that can ensue.
The creators use interviews with those involved, social media posts, and personal writings from Neese herself to reconstruct the story and pose questions about memory, trust, and loyalty.
With Friends Like These, Hulu adds the case to its growing lineup of true crime documentaries, alongside titles such as Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke, Death in Apartment 603: What Happened to Ellen Greenberg? and Last Take: Rust and the Story of Halyna.
Friends Like These premieres on Friday, March 6 on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
