‘The Comedians’ picked up to series

Billy Crystal will return to primetime with its half hour comedy series ‘The Comedians’. FX has ordered thirteen episodes of the new comedy. Production will start later this year and the show will premiere in 2015.

‘The Comedians’ is based on the Swedish series ‘Ulveson And Herngren’. Crystal will play a superstar veteran comedian who is not happy being paired up with a younger and more edgier comedian (Josh Gad, 1600 Penn) for a late-night comedy sketch show.

Crystal will be back with ‘The Comedians’ after more than 30 years. He played in ABC’s comedy ‘Soap’ from 1977 till 1981. ‘The Comedians’ is the third comedy series being ordered by FX, ‘Married’ and ‘You’re the Worst’ are joining ‘The Comedians’ in FX’s extensive slate of comedy pick ups.

‘The Comedians’ can count on a number of big names in de business. Like Larry Charles (‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’, ‘Borat’) who directed the pilot from the script he wrote with Crystal and executive producers Matt Nix (‘Burn Notice’) and Ben Wexler (‘Arrested Development’).
