‘Gotham’ officially green-lighted by FOX

Gotham’, one of the most-discussed series in development for the 2014/2015 television season, has received a full-season order from the American TV network FOX. As previously discussed on MySeries, the network is busy to get off the traditional paths in TV land.

The series, set in Gotham years before Bruce Wayne puts on his mask and becomes Batman, already received a series commitment. This means that if FOX wouldn’t end up ordering the series, they’d have to pay a penalty to producer Warner Bros TV. This made the series one of the few with a promising future. During the last months FOX has been busy promoting the series.

The lead role of detective James Gordon will be portrayed by Benjamin McKenzie (‘The O.C.’, ‘Southland’). Other known characters from the comics will also make an appearance. However, the series will focus on a time period on which nothing has been written yet. The series will be overseen and written by Bruno Heller (‘Rome’, ‘The Mentalist’) and directed by Danny Cannon (‘CSI’, ‘Nikita’).

The first trailer is currently online. Next week FOX will announce the full TV fall line-up during the Upfronts. That’s when the premiere date of ‘Gotham’ will also be announced.
