BBC and Amazon come with the comedy series The Offenders

Director Stephen Merchant is working on a comedy series about people with community service, titled The Offenders. The six-part series is a project of the BBC and Amazon Prime Video. The series The Offenders is about seven people with different backgrounds, who must perform community service in Bristol. At first everyone seems predictable, but gradually the viewer finds out that there is more to be found behind each character.

"The Offenders is a passion project. My parents used to work in community service, and I always found it very intriguing that all the people they were dealing with had only one thing in common: that they had committed a crime," said Stephen Merchant, who will also play a role in the new series.

Stephen Merchant is best known for The Office UK, the comedy series that he wrote and directed with Ricky Gervais. The launch date of the series The Offenders is not yet known.
