FX brings series Shōgun

A year ago FX's new Shōgun series was in pre-production - with various actors and a date for the beginning of the production - when FX put the series of ten episodes on hold.
Now Shōgun is finally coming. Justin Marks was hired as a writer and executive producer last spring. Now the series is finally - based on the best-selling novel by James Clavell - back on track and soon production will start in Japan.

Set in feudal Japan, Shōgun maps out the clash of two ambitious men from different worlds and a mysterious female samurai: John Blackthorne, a risky English sailor suffering shipwreck in Japan, a country whose unknown culture will eventually redefine him; Lord Toranaga, a cunning, powerful daimyo, at odds with his own dangerous, political rivals; and Lady Mariko, a woman with invaluable skills but unfair family ties, who must prove her worth and loyalty.

8909 Shogun

Which actors will appear in Shōgun is still unknown, as is the premier date. In 1980, NBC launched the James Clavell's Shogun series, which is about love and war, against the spectacular backdrop of feudal Japan at the start of the 17th century. The series is now being revived.
