Hulu brings new series Love, Victor

Hulu brings new series Love, Victor

Until recently, the Disney+ streaming platform worked on a television series based on the lhbt movie Love, Simon. That became known in June 2019.
Love, Simon released in cinemas in 2018 and is about a teenage boy (Nick Robinson) who is struggling with his coming-out. It was the first major American coming of age film with a gay main character. Reviewers praised the film, among other things, because it made it understandable for non-LGBT people how difficult it can be to get out of the closet at a young age.

Now it appears that Disney+ is not going to distribute the series. Hulu, also owned by Disney, has taken over the project and the title is now Love, Victor. Hulu has announced that ten episodes of thirty minutes will appear in June 2020.

The series revolves around Victor (played by Michael Cimino), a new student at Creekwood High School, the high school in the film. We follow his journey of self-discovery, challenges at home, and struggles with his sexual orientation. It seems that Disney+ prefers to offer series with innocent subjects, while at Hulu there is more room for series with relevant adult themes.

Love, Victor is made by the executive producers and show runners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, who are known from This Is Us.
