Horror comedy from Psych creator Steve Franks in production at Amazon

Amazon is working on a new horror comedy series. The temporary title is Mitchcraft, by Steve Franks, Chris Henze, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. The series follows a firefighter from a small town who accidentally finds out that he may have supernatural powers and calls himself a witch for lack of a better term. According to Franks, Mitchcraft - the working title of the new series - falls under a newly invented subgenre of horror. He himself calls it ambitious horror. The aim of the series is to make something that is scary funny.

The origins of Mitchcraft can be traced to the American crime drama Psych van Franks. In Psych he had the opportunity and freedom to experiment with different genres and themes. Franks and Henze were both executive producers of the series. In total, the two produced 122 episodes of Psych, which was broadcast on USA Network from 2006 to 2014. The series has built up a trusted group of fans over the years. Brad Fuller and Andrew Form produced the horror film A Quiet Place and also collaborated on The Purge and Ouija.
