Peacock, NBC's streaming service, has announced that they're working on a Battlestar Galactica reboot.
In 1978, the original
Battlestar Galactica (1978) was released at ABC. The series revolves around a group of people who fight for the continued existence of humanity. After wars with the Cylons - a robot race -, the twelve colonies have been destroyed. The survivors, who joined up in a group of spaceships and are captained by the Galactica, are looking for a place to survive. They're trying to find the mysterious third colony, which is called Earth. The series ran from 1978 till 1979.
In 2004, a reboot happened with
Battlestar Galactica (2004), which was made by SyFy. This one ran from 2004 till 2009 and received two more spin-offs with
Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome and
Caprica. Peacock's new reboot will be created by Sam Esmail (Mr Robot) and will be written by Michael Lesslie (
The Little Drummer Girl (2018)). He also serves as showrunner.
