Dick Wolf will create new series called American Babylon

Dick Wolf (Law & Order) will work together with Robert Schenkkan (The Pacific) on American Babylon, which tells the story of the construction of Las Vegas. Dick Wolf (Law & Order) will work together with Tom Thayer (Ghost Hunters), Robert Schenkkan (The Pacific) and Bruce C. McKenna (The Pacific) on a new series, which is called American Babylon. The series will explain how Las Vegas came to be. Schenkkan conceived American Babylon and was also part of the writing process next to McKenna.

American Babylon will tell the story of the young gangster Sammy Wise and his hardworking wife Esther, a highly ambitious black businessman, his smart wife Edda May and their rebellious daughter Bella and Michael Arcona, a combat veteran and aspiring reporter. The series shows Las Vegas through the eyes of these three vastly different families.

The series is based on the book The Money and the Power: The Making of LAs Vegas and Its Hold on America, which was written by Sally Denton and Roger Morris. The rights of the book lie in the hands of Universal Television. American Babylon will be offered to various networks and streaming services later this month.
