Morgan Cooper and Will Smith will create a dramatic reboot of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Morgan Cooper and Will Smith are working on Bel-Air, a reboot of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which released in the 90s. At the time, Smith portrayed the main character. Morgan Cooper created a nearly four-minute-long trailer about his perspective on the classic comedy series back in 2019. The trailer caught the eye of Will Smith (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), who portrayed the main character in the original version. Together, they're now working on a new version of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which is simply called Bel-Air.



Bel-Air will become a drama series and will revolve around inherent conflicts, emotions and prejudice about the modern black man in the US. The new series will still have references to the original series. Cooper will direct the series, and he will write the script alongside Chris Collins. Collins will also serve as showrunner.

The new series is currently offered to various streaming services. Netflix, Peacock, HBO Max, Amazon and Apple have all shown interest in the upcoming reboot. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air currently is distributed across various streaming services all over the world, so it isn't guaranteed where Bel-Air will end up.
