Sky releases teaser for Gomorrah - The Origins

Sky releases teaser for Gomorrah - The Origins

The first teaser for the highly anticipated series Gomorrah — The Origins has been released. The series will premiere on Sky in early 2026.
The series is a prequel to the popular crime saga Gomorra (2014) and consists of six episodes. The story is set in Naples in 1977 and follows the criminal coming-of-age of young Pietro Savastano, who would later become one of the most powerful figures in the Neapolitan underworld.

According to the official description, Pietro grows up as a tough kid in the poorest neighborhoods of Secondigliano, where he tries to survive with his friends by racing scooters through the city and committing petty thefts. Yet, he dreams of something bigger: he wants to be like Angelo ‘A Sirena, the ‘king’ of the neighborhood.

When Pietro succeeds in gaining the trust of this young mafia boss, he becomes entangled in a dangerous power game that changes his life forever. He begins to question whether this dark and violent path is truly what he wants—or if his love for Imma might save him from that fate.

The series is produced by Sky Studios and Cattleya, expanding the universe of Gomorra (2014), which was originally inspired by Roberto Saviano's bestseller. The production is set up as a long-term project, with plans for at least three seasons.

Marco D'Amore, known as a director and actor in the original series, directs the first four episodes and also serves as co-writer and artistic supervisor. The last two episodes are directed by Francesco Ghiaccio.

In the lead roles, we see Luca Lubrano as the young, ambitious Pietro Savastano, Francesco Pellegrino as Angelo ‘A Sirena’, a reluctant gangster burdened by a legacy he did not choose, and Flavio Furno as ‘O Paisano’, a prisoner trying to recruit followers for a new kind of Camorra.

Tullia Venezia plays the young Imma, a talented musician with dreams reaching beyond Naples, while Fabiola Balestriere portrays Annalisa Magliocca, the future Scianel, here still a young mother burdened by her violent husband.

Other roles are played by Antonio Buonomo, Ciro Burzo, Luigi Cardone, Antonio Del Duca, Mattia Francesco Cozzolino, Junior Rancel Rodriguez Arcia, and Antonio Incalza. The storyline and scripts are written by Fasoli, Ravagli, and D’Amore.

That sounds like a particularly promising return to the Gomorrah universe. A prequel about the young Pietro Savastano is a logical and exciting choice. He was one of the most intriguing and complex characters in the original series, and his origins offer ample room for character development and moral conflict.

The fact that Marco D'Amore (Ciro Di Marzio) is back, not only as director but also as co-writer and artistic supervisor, gives us confidence that the tone and style will remain true to the raw intensity of the original series. The setting in Naples in the 1970s also promises a visually powerful and socially compelling portrait of the era, a period in which the modern Camorra began to form.

I'm definitely interested in this and hope that Gomorrah The Origins achieves a similar combination of moral complexity, social realism, and brutal tension as the original series.
