Day of the Dead, written by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, shows the story of six strangers trying to survive the first 24 hours of a zombie invasion. This ode to the famous zombies of Romero reminds us that sometimes all it takes to bring people together is a horde of hungry mythical creatures trying to drive them apart. Cartel Entertainment (known from Creepshow) is going to create the series for Syfy. The trailer below is from Day of the Dead, the movie that released in 1985.
In The Surrealtor, the second series that Syfy has ordered, real estate agent Nick Roman and an elite team of specialists handle matters that nobody else can solve. This series revolves around haunted houses that literally chase away potential buyers. The team investigates and "fixes" the things they bump into at night. At the same time, they struggle with their own demons.
Blue Ice Pictures, also known from Spinning Out, produces The Surrealtor for Syfy. Lance Samuels and Daniel Iron are executive producers together with George Olson, who will also serve as a showrunner. Both productions show that Syfy wants to create more horror series.
