Diana Rigg passed away

British actress Diana Rigg passed away at the age of 82. Most recently, she was well-known for her portrayal of Olenna Tyrell in Game of Thrones.
Diana Rigg's rise to fame began when she got a role in the British crime series The Avengers from 1961. Rigg joined the cast in 1965. She portrayed a character called Emma Peel. Before this, she already had several smaller roles in a couple of series, but her role in The Avengers ensured a breakthrough in her career. In total, she appeared in 51 episodes and was even nominated for an Emmy Award in 1967 and 1968.

Nowadays, Diana Rigg is known for her role in Game of Thrones, in which she portrayed Lady Olenna Tyrell. In 2013, she joined the cast of the fantasy series. In that very same year and a couple of years later, she was nominated for Emmy Awards for this role.

Last March, the actress was diagnosed with cancer, due to which she passed away at the age of 82. The last series in which Rigg played a part has yet to come out. She will be part of the upcoming series Black Narcissus, which is based on the book with the same name that released in 1939.

The actress was also part of Victoria, Detectorists, Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero, You, Me and the Apocalypse, Doctor Who, The Mrs Bradley Mysteries and Rebecca. Rigg is also well-known for her role in the James Bond movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service, in which she portrayed the one and only real Mrs Bond.
