Gillian Vigman stars opposite Katelyn Tarver in a half-hour scripted pilot, Open Book, inspired by Jessica Simpson's bestseller. Open Book comes from Tom Kapinos (Californication), Patrick Moran's PKM Productions and Amazon Studios. Written by Kapinos, the series is described as a driving, music-infused coming-of-age story.
It follows the rise of pop star Sadie Sparrow (Tarver) from ingenue to mogul and introduces us to the family, friends and loved ones she collects along the way. The series deals with themes of love, friendship, family and sisterhood, relationships, soul mate, Hollywood and the music industry. In the end, Sadie embraces herself and the fact that her heart inevitably wants what it wants at every stage of life.
Vigman (pictured) will play Sadie's mother. The actress can currently be heard as the voice of Dr. T'Ana in the Paramount+ animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks.
Her other credits include a recurring role on the FOX comedy series New Girl, a regular role on The CW's comedy/drama Life Sentence and guest starring roles on HBO's Divorce (2016), The CW's Roswell, New Mexico and HBO's The Sex Lives of College Girls.
John Stamos (Big Shot (2021)) also stars in the pilot and will be back if the series is actually filmed.
Kapinos and Bernstein produce. Moran and PKM Productions are co-producing with Amazon Studios. Jessica Simpson, Lauren Auslander and Lacy Lynch also produce. Adam Bernstein (Billions) directs and also serves as an executive producer.
