Showtime orders pilot for American Gigolo

Showtime has ordered a pilot for American Gigolo, starring Jon Bernthal. The story is a modern-day version of the story from the film released in 1980. Showtime has announced that they have ordered a pilot for American Gigolo, with Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead) in the lead role. American Gigolo is a modern-day version of the movie that released in 1980, and it is written by the Emmy nominee David Hollander (Ray Donovan). Bernthal will portray Julian Kaye.

After he was arrested for murder 18 years ago, Julian tries to figure out the truth. He tries to find his footing in the sex industry in Los Angeles and hopes to reconnect with his only love Michelle.

In addition to writing the series, David Hollander will also direct and serve as showrunner. Furthermore, along with Emmy winner Jerry Bruckheimer (Lucifer), who produced the original film, he becomes executive producer on the series. Jonathan Littman and Kristie Anne Reed also serve as executive producers. The project is a production of Paramount Television Studios. It is not yet known when the series is set to release.
