Tom Holland (Wolf Hall), Amanda Seyfried (The Dropout) and Emmy Rossum (Shameless (US)) play the lead roles. The series was created by Akiva Goldsman (Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds).
The story follows Danny Sullivan (Holland), a man who is arrested following his involvement in a shooting in New York City in 1979. Through a series of interviews with curious interrogator Rya Goodwin (Amanda Seyfried), Danny's life story unfolds in the thriller series. The conversations reveal elements of the mysterious past that shaped Danny and the twists and turns that will lead him to a life-changing epiphany.
In addition to Holland, Seyfried and Rossum, the series stars Sasha Lane (Utopia (2020)), Will Chase (Nashville) and Lior Raz (Fauda), along with guest stars Jason Isaacs (Star Trek: Discovery), Christopher Abbott (Catch-22) , Thomas Sadoski (Life in Pieces) and Zachary Golinger (Evil).
The Crowded Room is a co-production between Apple Studios and New Regency. Goldsman is an executive producer through his Weed Road Productions. The series is also produced by Alexandra Milchan for EMJAG Productions and Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Michael Schaefer of New Regency. Film director Kornél Mundruczó (Pieces of a Woman) directed several episodes, including the pilot, and serves as executive producer.
