The Residence gets premiere date and first look at the murder-mystery drama

Netflix has set a premiere date for The Residence, Shondaland's comedy murder-mystery drama series for Netflix.
Using Kate Andersen Brower's book The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House as a starting point, the Netflix series is described as a 'screwball whodunnit' (a comedy-style murder mystery) set upstairs, downstairs - and back stairs of the White House, among the eclectic staff of the world's most famous mansion.

Uzo Aduba and Randall Park star. Netflix has released a first-look photo, which you can see below.

Aduba stars as Cordelia Cupp, a detective for the Metropolitan Police Department. Cupp is known for her wry humor, ruthless search for the truth and keen eye for human behavior. She is the most sought-after detective in the world and an avid bird watcher.

Park is FBI Special Agent Edwin Park, who is assigned to work with Cupp during a high-stakes state dinner. Although Park is skeptical of Cupp's unconventional methods, their dynamic promises to be as intriguing as the mystery they try to unravel.

The series also stars Giancarlo Esposito, who succeeds Andre Braugher after Braugher's untimely death, along with Edwina Findley, Molly Griggs, Jason Lee, Ken Marino, Al Mitchell, Dan Perrault, Bronson Pinchot, Julieth Restrepo, Mel Rodriguez, Susan Kelechi Watson, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Mary Wiseman and more.

Paul William Davies is the creator, showrunner, writer and executive producer. Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers also produce.

The Residence can be seen on Netflix from Thursday, March 20.
