Simone plays Keisha Clark, a confident athlete with dreams for life after high school. Cooper Jr. plays Justin Edwards, who dreams of playing Division I basketball and achieving more than his successful parents.

Mara Brock Akil, creator of the sitcom Girlfriends and the drama Being Mary Jane, serves as executive producer and showrunner on the series. Forever is Akil’s first project under her overall deal with Netflix.

Karen Pittman, Wood Harris, Xosha Roquemore, Marvin L. Winans III, Barry Shabaka Henley, Ali Gallo, Niles Fitch, Paigion Walker and E’myri Crutchfield also star.

Forever is one of several books coming to the small screen this year. Blume’s other book, Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, was previously adapted for a feature film in 2023.

Forever hits Netflix on Thursday, May 8. Watch the teaser below.
