Cape Fear gets premiere date from Apple TV

The new thriller series Cape Fear is coming. Apple TV has confirmed when the series featuring Amy Adams, Patrick Wilson, and Javier Bardem will be available.

The announcement of the premiere date and the first images for Cape Fear took place during the Apple TV press day at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, where creator Nick Antosca led a conversation with lead actors Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson.

The series centers around the seemingly happy couple Anna and Tom Bowden, two successful lawyers played by Adams and Wilson. Their peaceful life is completely disrupted when Max Cady, portrayed by Javier Bardem, is released from prison. Cady is a notorious murderer who ended up behind bars due to Anna and Tom's actions and is now determined to seek revenge.

In addition to the three main actors, the cast includes CCH Pounder, Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Jamie Hector, Malia Pyles, and Anna Baryshnikov.

Cape Fear is based on the novel The Executioners, which previously served as inspiration for the 1962 film of the same name starring Gregory Peck and the critically acclaimed 1991 remake by Martin Scorsese, featuring Robert De Niro, Nick Nolte, Jessica Lange, and Juliette Lewis.

The pilot episode was directed by Oscar-nominated Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game), who is also involved as an executive producer.

Cape Fear premieres on Friday, June 5 on Apple TV. On that day, the first two episodes will be released, followed by a new episode every Friday through July 31.
