Netflix releases premiere date for political thriller series The Diplomat (US)

Keri Russell (The Americans) returns to the small screen in a new series coming to Netflix next month: The Diplomat (US). The political thriller series, starring alongside Russell Rufus Sewell (The Man in the High Castle), David Gyasi (Carnival Row), Ali Ahn (Raising Dion), Rory Kinnear (Years and Years), Ato Essandoh (Chicago Med), Celia Imrie (Keeping Faith), Michael McKean (Better Call Saul), Nana Mensah (13 Reasons Why), T'Nia Miller (The Haunting of Bly Manor) and Miguel Sandoval (Sharp Objects), follows Kate Wyler (Russell), a US ambassador who thought he was going to Afghanistan, but ends up in the UK. Eight episodes were produced.

“The Diplomat is a show about the transcendence and torture of long-term relationships,” she says. “It’s hard to keep a relationship going, be it a marriage or a military alliance. We change, the world changes, and yet we want these relationships to go on forever. It’s a show about a bunch of good people doing their best to keep their global and personal partnerships intact without killing each other. Netflix has revealed more about the new series in a press release:

War is brewing on one continent and boiling over Kate will have to solve international crises, forge strategic alliances in London and adjust to her new place in the spotlight - all while trying to survive her marriage to fellow diplomat and political star Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell). ).

The Diplomat (US) will appear on Thursday 20 April. The series is not to be confused with the British series The Diplomat, which also released this year.
