Streamz viewing sessions continue to grow by more than half in 2024

Streamz looks back on a successful 2024, with an impressive 52% increase in viewing sessions compared to the previous year.
The main growth engine remains the same: the continued popularity of Flemish series. These results underline the success of Streamz's long-term strategy to offer a sustainable future to quality Flemish content.

16669 Streamz Top 10

2024 marks a record year for Flemish series on Streamz. For the first time, the entire top 10 of most viewed titles on Streamz consists of local series, with Nonkels as the absolute leader. In 2024, no less than 80% of the total viewing time on the platform was spent on local productions.

Flemish films are also very popular with the streaming service. Despite the wide range of international blockbusters, the ten most viewed films are also local. This includes recent, award-winning gems such as Skunk and Het Smelt.

The international offering also managed to charm a lot of viewers this year. Although Flemish series are clearly preferred, two out of three subscribers continue to watch international films and series every month. This year also saw a nice growth in international releases, with more than 345 new titles added to the offering.

The most popular series among these titles was Tulsa King, of which the second season was released this year, good for no less than 900,000 viewing sessions.

Although streaming is known for its flexibility, people often still watch the same content at the same time. On average, 50% of viewing sessions on a new title are achieved within the first week of release. This trend is strongest for follow-up seasons, such as Nonkels and Billie vs Benjamin, which attract the most fans on the day of launch. Older Flemish classics, such as Het Huis Anubis and Matroesjka's, also remain popular and are given a second wind when they are relaunched on the Flemish streaming service.

With these results, Streamz looks ahead to 2025 with confidence. With no fewer than twelve new series on the programme, Streamz will continue to focus on local productions that bring together emerging talent and established names in 2025.

It's a shame that you can't create a Streamz account from the Netherlands.
