Ahead of next week’s 2025-26 schedule reveal, NBC has renewed Chicago Fire for a fourteenth season, Chicago PD for a thirteenth season, and Chicago Med for an eleventh season. The pickup is being announced on social media with a video featuring several Chicago Fire cast members, which you can watch below.
Renewals for the three Chicago series – and the rest of Wolf Entertainment's NBC dramas – were never in doubt. Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, Chicago Med and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit currently top NBC's linear scripted ratings and Peacock's ratings charts. According to NBCUniversal, the current seasons of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago PD have reached nearly 46 million total viewers to date on NBC and Peacock, with all three streaming viewership numbers increasing year-over-year.
As is the case every year, there were budget talks between the network and sister studio Universal Television, the studio behind the Wolf Entertainment series, prior to the renewal. This resulted in some cuts to One Chicago, which is considered standard practice for veteran series of its caliber, as shows get more expensive over the years.
