Lead role for Jordan Calloway in Black Lightning spin-off at The CW

The CW is working on a Black Lightning spin-off. Jordan Calloway will portray the titular character in the series, which is called Painkiller. The spin-off revolves around the DC Comics character with the same name, who also appeared in the American superhero series Black Lightning. Jordan Calloway (Riverdale) will be portraying the titular character. He also portrayed the same character in Black Lightning. The spin-off revolves around Khalil Payne, who regrets his past in Freeland City. Here he is known as Painkiller, a killing machine, member of Tobias Whale's crew and a weapon of Agent Odell and the shady ASA.

The series will have a backdoor pilot, which will be the seventh episode of the fourth season of Black Lightning. It is expected to release somewhere in February 2021. Black Lightning premiered back in 2018. Salim Akil, showrunner of Black Lightning, will be writing and directing the pilot episode.
