“Your eyes,” Penelope says in the trailer. "A very remarkable shade of blue. And yet somehow they shine even more when you are kind. I might say something like that if you were a suitor."

The season three storyline is as follows: Penelope Featherington (Coughlan) has finally given up her long-held crush on Colin Bridgerton (Newton) after hearing his disparaging words about her last season. However, she has decided that it is time to get a husband, preferably one who will give her enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, away from her mother and sisters. But due to a lack of self-confidence, Penelope's attempts at the marriage market fail spectacularly.
Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger. But he is discouraged when he realizes that Penelope, the one person who has always appreciated him for who he was, is leaving him out in the cold. Colin wants to win back her friendship and offers Penelope to guide her in finding a man this season. But when his lessons start to work a little too well, Colin is forced to question whether his feelings for Penelope are truly amicable.
Bridgerton season three premieres on Netflix on Thursday, May 16.
