Netflix releases teaser for Italian period drama series The Leopard

It's one of Netflix's biggest gambles for 2025 and now there's a teaser for the series. The Italian period drama The Leopard will be a six-part drama series based on the novel of the same name by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa about the Prince of Salina's realization that his family is in danger as Italy moves towards unification and the old aristocracy is threatened.



“You are all safe here,” the Prince of Salina Don Fabrizio Corbera tells his family and friends during the trailer. However, his face betrays his fear that’s not true.

The teaser stars Kim Rossi Stuart as the Prince of Salina, along with Benedetta Porcaroli (Concetta), Deva Cassel (Angelica) and Saul Nanni (Tancredi) alongside Paolo Calabresi, Francesco Colella, Astrid Meloni and Greta Esposito. The order and formality of Italian high society are in stark contrast to the chaos and violence on the streets of 1860s Sicily.

Tom Shankland directs episodes 1-3 and 6, Giuseppe Capotondi directs episode 4 and Laura Luchetti directs episode 5. Richard Warlow and Benji Walters are the writers and Fabrizio Donvito, Daniel Campos Pavoncelli, Marco Cohen, Benedetto Habib and Alessandro Mascheroni are the producers for Indiana Production and Will Gould and Frith Tiplady for Moonage Pictures.

The series will start next year. An exact premiere date has not yet been announced.
