Netflix reveals first photo and premiere date for Jo Nesbø's Harry Hole

Netflix has shared a first look at the new crime series Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole, titled Jo Nesbøs Harry Hole in Norwegian, and announced a premiere date.
Netflix describes the series as a dark descent into the shadowy streets of Oslo, where nothing is as it seems and every clue pulls the viewer deeper into the city's dark heart. The nine-episode series revolves around the iconic Norwegian anti-hero Harry Hole, a brilliant yet tormented detective who takes on a serial killer.

Tobias Santelmann (pictured) portrays the role of Harry Hole, bringing a new chapter for the character to life. Joel Kinnaman plays Tom Waaler, Hole's corrupt colleague and arch-nemesis, while Pia Tjelta appears as Rakel Fauke.

The series boasts an exceptionally extensive ensemble cast, including Peter Stormare, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Anders Danielsen Lie, Ane Dahl Torp, Jesper Christensen, Eili Harboe, and Dagny.

According to Netflix, the series is a tale of obsession, betrayal, and the blurred line between justice and revenge. Central to the story is the cat-and-mouse game between Harry Hole and Tom Waaler, two policemen operating on opposite sides of the law. As Hole wrestles with his personal demons, he is confronted with his nemesis in a battle where the stakes continually rise and where every crime file contains hidden clues.

The series is directed by Øystein Karlsen and Anna Zackrisson. Jo Nesbø himself is closely involved as creator, writer, and executive producer and expressed enthusiasm for Santelmann's portrayal of Harry Hole. He describes the series as a dark and twisted journey that he can finally share with the audience.

Jo Nesbø's Harry Hole premieres worldwide on Netflix on Thursday, March 26, 2026.
