Netflix reveals first look at Extraction series with Omar Sy

Mercenary: An Extraction Series, the TV spin-off of Netflix's action thriller film franchise starring Chris Hemsworth, has completed filming in Ireland and is now moving to Morocco. Netflix is already sparking interest in Mercenary: An Extraction Series with a first look at the series led by Omar Sy, where the Lupin star is seen in full military gear (see photo below).

In the series, Sy plays a mercenary embarking on a dangerous mission to rescue hostages in Libya. Trapped between warring factions and ruthless killers, he must make life-threatening choices while also confronting deep emotional wounds.

Alongside Sy, the cast includes Boyd Holbrook, Natalie Dormer, Waleed Zuaiter, Ed Speleers, Sacha Dhawan, Ross McCall, Pip Torrens, Sam Woolf, Michael Zananiri, Riyad Sliman, Muhannad Ben Amor, Aaron Heffernan, Jojo Macari, Theo Ogundipe, and Emma Appleton.

The series is an expansion of the action-thriller film franchise Extraction. The first film, written by Joe Russo and directed by Sam Hargrave, was released in 2020; its sequel followed in 2023.

Additionally, a new film titled Tygo is on the way, a South Korean production featuring Blackpink’s Lalisa Manobal alongside Don Lee and Lee Jin-uk.

According to Angela Russo-Otstot, Chief Creative Officer of AGBO, the company was “inspired to tell more stories within this global franchise and further explore how heroic yet flawed mercenaries highlight universal themes.”
