ABC renews comedy series Not Dead Yet with a second season

ABC's new sitcom has managed to evade the Grim Reaper. The Alphabet Network has renewed Not Dead Yet for a second season.Not Dead Yet stars Gina Rodriguez, Josh Banday, Angela Gibbs, Hannah Simone and Lauren Ash. In the story, Nell Serrano (Rodriguez) is a 37-year-old broken and newly single self-described disaster. She had a promising career as a reporter for a Southern California newspaper, but put everything aside to follow a man to London. Five years later, that relationship ended and Nell returned to California and took the only job she could find at the newspaper: writing obituaries.



Nell feels lonely and lost until inspiration comes from unlikely sources. As she writes about the new departed, they appear to her to give her advice and inspiration. Spooky guest stars include Martin Mull, Ed Begley Jr., Mo Collins, Deborah S. Craig, Telma Hopkins, Don Lake, Rhea Perlman, Paula Pell, Tony Plana, Brittany Snow, and Julia Sweeney.

The first season of Not Dead Yet, which aired on Wednesday evenings, averaged 0.30 in the 18-49 demographic and 2.26 million viewers. It's a mediocre performance for the network in both the demo and total viewership. In the live+7-day viewing figures, the episodes attract almost 60% more viewers.

The thirteen-episode first season ended last week. A start date for season two is expected this summer.
