The seventh season of the award-winning and critically acclaimed comedy series Nurse Jackie will be the last one. The production of the last season of Nurse Jackie, starring the extraordinary actress Edie Falco, will begin soon. The last season will air in 2015. The announcement was made by David Nevins, President, Showtime Networks Inc.
The black comedy series, which premiered in 2009, has won multiple Emmy Awards, a Humanitas Prize, but also an AFI Award for "Outstanding Television Program" and multiple Prism Awards for its portrayal of drug abuse. Nurse Jackie has also put Edie Falco in a unique position as she is the only actress who won an Emmy for best lead actress for both drama and comedy and also as the most nominated TV star in the history of the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Nurse Jackie is one of the best watched comedies of Showtime with an average of 3.4 million viewers a week.
