Streamz Original Oh, Otto! Wins Awards at Canneseries

Streamz Original Oh, Otto! has won an award. The series wins the Short Form Competition and Student Award at Canneseries.
On Tuesday, April 29, the eighth edition of the international series festival Canneseries came to a festive end with the closing ceremony, where the winners of the Official Competition, the Short Form Competition and the Docu Series Competition were announced.

Oh, Otto!

No fewer than four Flemish series were selected, including Dood Spoor, How to kill your sister, Oh, Otto! and Dag Vreemde Man. Streamz Original Oh, Otto! won the Short Form Competition and the Student Award.

Oh, Otto! was crowned the best short form series at Canneseries. And the student jury was of the same opinion. They announced that the series would receive the Student Award. Oh, Otto! competed in the Short Form Competition against five other series from New Zealand, Norway, Finland, France and Canada.

The jury included former actress, screenwriter and director Marnie Blok (Máxima), BAFTA-nominated actor Omari Douglas (Black Doves', It's a Sin) and artist Fauve Hautot (Bastion 36).

The jury was full of praise for the cast and crew and unanimous in their decision: "Love is something that everyone has the right to. In a world where polarization is increasingly taking over, this intimate but universal story reminds us that series like Oh, Otto! are needed now more than ever and that in the law of love, everyone is equal."

Oh, Otto! follows twenty-something Otto (Jonathan Michiels), when his first love has just dumped him and his best friend Lente (Jennifer Heylen) announces that she is leaving their beloved Brussels. He is left with doubts and questions and decides to fill his heart with fleeting love. Otto goes in search of his place in the vibrant Brussels queer scene. With his online alter ego in his pocket, he dives into a world of nocturnal escapades, gay bars and self-discovery.

The international series festival Canneseries was in its eighth edition this year. From no less than 350 entries, 19 series were selected by Canneseries, both in and out of competition. This selection included no less than six Flemish series: Streamz and Play co-production Dood Spoor and How to kill your sister were selected in the Official Competition and Streamz Original Dag Vreemde Man was selected in the Docu Series Competition. The Streamz Originals Holy Sh!t and De big fuck-up were shown out of competition.

Oh, Otto! will be shown exclusively on Streamz this summer.
