Once Upon a Time - Season 2

Fairy tales come to life in a little village called Storybrooke in Maine, USA… That’s Once Upon a Time described in one sentence. During the first season, we met a lot of characters from the ‘enchanted forest’. In the season finale the curse was finally broken and the memory of the town’s residents was restored. We also saw a purple cloud spreading around the town… What is this and what kind of consequences does this have for Storybrooke and its citizens?!

Immediately during the first episode of season two we meet new characters from the fairy tale world… People who thought that with the curse breaking and all, the story came to an end will soon find out that this was just the beginning. Magic has come to Storybrooke and time hasn’t stopped in the enchanted forest in the meantime either! Emma (Jennifer Morrison, House) and new-found mom Snow/Mary Margaret (Ginnifer Goodwin, Big Love) end up in the enchanted forest and, in the meanwhile, Evil Queen Regina (Lana Parrilla, Miami Medical) tries to get her powers back in Storybrooke while still staying a part of her son's life Henry (Jared Gilmore) as well.

As usual, the series has loads of twists which will leave you breathless after someone’s actions and/or ulterior motives in the end. The season starts off very strong and keeps up the same level throughout the whole series. Out of the 22 episodes, maybe two of them are a bit disappointing but in general the series makes you anxious about what’s coming up next. The season finale is also one that will exceed all expectations! Just when you think it would be predictable, they change the whole plot and left us with an amazing ending that makes me crave for the next season…

We get to meet Aurora (Sarah Bolger, The Tudors), Mulan (Jamie Chung, Samurai Girl), Captain Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) and the Queen of Hearts (Barbara Hershey, The Mountain) among many others this season. But the biggest new character, I think, is Henry’s dad Neal (Michael Raymond-James, True Blood) who doesn’t only enter Henry’s life but also has a very big secret of his own that he’s been carrying around for years! And that is not all that's new this season cause we also get to explore new parts of the fairy tale world. So there's plenty to keep the viewers on the edge of their seats, in my opinion…

I watch a lot of TV series but I haven’t seen anything this good in years! OK, the special effects aren’t always at the highest level, that’s a flaw I’ll have to admit. But still, it doesn’t affect the show in a negative way, because of the great storylines, and honestly, it’s the only flaw that I’ve found so far. After the first season, I doubted whether they could pull off a second season this great but they passed with flying colours. I love this show so much that I even watch it live online in the middle of the night every Sunday a long with the American viewers (and other worldwide fans)!

A day before the season finale, they announced Once Upon a Time will be returning for a third season. The first spin-off has also been confirmed and will be called Once Upon a Time In Wonderland. I, for one, can’t wait for the new season(s) to start, I just hope it’ll be just as great as this one!
