One Piece (2023) Gets Early Season Three Renewal from Netflix

The live-action pirate series One Piece (2023), based on the all-time best-selling manga series by Eiichiro Oda, will not return with season two until 2026.

During the annual One Piece Day event in Tokyo, Netflix gave a first look at the new season of One Piece (2023), which is scheduled to release on the streamer sometime next year. You can see the photos below and at the bottom of this post.

Meanwhile, filming for season three will begin later this year in Cape Town, South Africa. Ian Stokes, previously co-executive producer on One Piece (2023), will become co-showrunner alongside Joe Tracz. Stokes succeeds Matt Owens, who departed in March after serving as executive producer and co-showrunner on seasons one and two. Tracz became co-showrunner for season two and is currently overseeing post-production following Owens' departure.

Season two promises "more intense adversaries and the most dangerous quests yet." Luffy and the Straw Hats set sail for the legendary Grand Line—a sea teeming with dangers and wonders. Along the way, they encounter bizarre islands and a host of formidable new enemies.

One Piece (2023) follows Monkey D. Luffy in his quest to find the legendary treasure, the One Piece, and become King of the Pirates.

Since its release in 2023, the series has spent eight weeks in the global Netflix Top 10, reached number one in over 75 countries, and became the first English-language Netflix series to debut at number one in Japan. With nearly 100 million views, it is one of the most downloaded Netflix series ever.
