Cobra Kai actor Xolo Maridueña cast in One Piece (2023) season three

Xolo Maridueña moves from one Netflix hit to another. The Cobra Kai actor has signed on for a role in the third season of One Piece (2023).Xolo Maridueña, known as Miguel Diaz from Cobra Kai, will portray the beloved character Portgas D. Ace in the third season of One Piece (2023). Filming for the new season will begin later this year in Cape Town, South Africa.

The Netflix series, a live-action adaptation of the iconic Japanese manga series by Eiichiro Oda, follows Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) on his quest for the legendary One Piece treasure and his dream to become the King of the Pirates.

Since its launch in 2023, the first season spent eight weeks in the Netflix Global Top 10, reached the number 1 spot in more than 75 countries, and became the first English-language Netflix series to debut at number 1 in Japan.

In addition to his work for Netflix, Maridueña also played the lead role in DC’s superhero film Blue Beetle (2023). Although DC Studios co-chairman James Gunn previously stated that the actor "perfectly fits" within the future plans of the DC Universe, no concrete plans for the return of his character have been announced yet.

The second season of the series, One Piece: Into the Grand Line, will premiere on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, on Netflix.
