Only Murders in the Building gets a season five start date

The beloved comedy crime series Only Murders in the Building returns soon for its fifth season. In season five of Only Murders in the Building, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez, and Michael Cyril Creighton return in their familiar roles. Meryl Streep, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Richard Kind, and Nathan Lane also make guest appearances.

The new season opens with the mysterious death of Lester (Teddy Coluca), the beloved doorman at the Arconia building. Charles, Oliver, and Mabel refuse to believe it was an accident. Their investigation leads them to the dark corners of New York and beyond.

They stumble upon a web of secrets involving billionaires, veteran mafia members, and the inscrutable inhabitants of Arconia. Simultaneously, tensions between the old and new New York are becoming increasingly palpable: traditional criminal powers are in decline, while new, even more dangerous players are emerging.

The new cast members for season five include Bobby Cannavale, Renée Zellweger, Logan Lerman, Christoph Waltz, Téa Leoni, Keegan-Michael Key, Beanie Feldstein, Dianne Wiest, and Jermaine Fowler.

At the SAG Awards, Selena Gomez accepted the award for Best Ensemble. Surprised, she joked, "Wait, we never win. This is so weird." She added, "Marty and Steve aren't here. They obviously don't care that much. But I'm taking the award to New York for season five. Thank you!"

Only Murders in the Building season five premieres on Tuesday, September 9th. The first three episodes will be released simultaneously on Hulu on that date. After that, a new episode will be released weekly on Tuesdays.
