Creator and writer from Our Girl Tony Grounds (EastEnders) said that this is the right time to end the series. Next to that, he thanked the fans and mentioned that he has enjoyed writing the episodes of the drama series. The decision to cancel the series came after Michelle Keegan (Brassic) decided to leave the series after the fourth season.
The first season follows military nurse Molly during her first mission in Afghanistan. Starting from the second season, the series follows military nurse Georgie Lane, who went on a mission to Afghanistan and Western Africa. During her new mission, she has to deal with an increasingly more dangerous and changing situation in Eastern Africa.
