Netflix is eyeing Outer Banks spinoffs now that the final season has been announced

The hit action-adventure series Outer Banks will end its upcoming fifth season. But that may not be the end of the Pogues.
“We are excited for Season 5, and we’re excited for other stories in this universe down the line,” series’ co-creators/executive producers co-creators and executive producers Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke said during an interview with Deadline tied for the release of Season 4 Part 2.

Outer Banks

The trio declined to elaborate, but indicated that ideas for possible spin-off series and other offshoots of the OBX universe are being explored. According to sources, there are currently no projects in the works, but it makes sense for Netflix to try to expand one of its flagship series - something it has already done with series like Stranger Things and Bridgerton and is exploring with Virgin River.

In their interview, the Pates and Burke discuss the big shock of the season four finale and what we can expect from season five, with Rudy Pankow and the rest of the main cast also having their say.

Netflix has hinted that it has bigger plans for Outer Banks – expanding the OBX brand into other areas: video games, with the recently released mobile game Stories: Outer Banks; and live events, with the annual Pougelandia fan music party. There are also licensing agreements for OBX merchandise from brands such as PacSun, Lottie London and Byrd.

A social media phenomenon, Outer Banks has spent a total of 28 weeks in the global top 10 English television charts to date, with several more expected this year following the release of season four part 2.

The series centers on a group of working-class teenagers - Pogues - from a coastal community in North Carolina. The story tells about their lives, friendship and treasure hunting adventures.

The season four cast includes Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, Carlacia Grant, Drew Starkey, Austin North, Fiona Palomo, J. Anthony Crane, Pollyanna McIntosh, Brianna Brown, Rigo Sanchez, Mia Challis and Cullen Moss.
